Domaine Rene et Vincent Dauvissat Chablis La Forest 2023

One of the greatest successes this year, Vincent Dauvissat’s 2023 Chablis 1er Cru La Forest opens from the glass with aromas of oyster shell, lemon zest, dried white flowers and iodine. Medium-bodied and tensile, laden with electric acidity, an abundance of chalky extract and concluding with a searingly saline finish, this is one of the finest wines of the vintage. If Raveneau consistently excels in Montée de Tonnerre, it is Dauvissat who’s the king of La Forest.

The 2023 Chablis Forets ler Cru competes with the Montee de Tonnerre as Dauvissat's finest Premier. This has the same degree of mineralite and tension on the nose, but it's perhaps a tad more open at the moment. The palate has exquisite balance. The 2023 is just a tiny bit more tropical than the Montee with hints of apricot and white peach. This is very persistent on the finish. It is superb.
