Domaine de la Chézatte is a family owned estate in the most northerly village in Sancerre. Its sustainably farmed vineyards are south-facing with soils of flint and limestone so it is an ideal spot for growing the local grape, Sauvignon Blanc.
The white Sancerre represents today 85% of the whole production at Chézatte; 10% of Sancerre red and 5% of Sancerre Rosé. The Domaine de la Chézatte has different terroirs with various soil types: silex (60%), White Soils ‘Terres Blanches’ (23%), Caillotte (17%).The clay-with-flint soil combined with a few limestone parcels of land give the Estate's Sancerre a pale, brilliant color, with a fine, intense smell as well as hints of minerals quite typical of the area. In the mouth, it is fresh with good body and a citrus background. The intensity and brightness of this wine make it go well with all types of seafood. Its liveliness brings out the briny flavor in oysters; its finesse will bring out the smokiness of salmon or the spices of Asian cuisine.
