Argillae means Clay in Latin, and this wine comes from clay soils laden with ancient fossils in the Umbria region of Italy which borders Tuscany and Lazio. Family owned and located close to Roma, Argillae was founded in 1993 by Cavaliere del Lavoro Giuseppe Bonollo who began his career in the grappa and spirits business. Argillae represents his passion for land and nature and his dream for a high quality and authentic Umbrian wine production.
The vineyards cover an area of 38 hectares in which the composition of the ground, the altitude, the excellent exposure and the careful selection of grapes varieties make it particularly suitable for the production of excellent wines. Made of the local grapes Grechetto, Procanico and Malvasia along with a touch of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. This is so fresh, mouthwatering, clean and tasty. We couldn’t get enough of it at Catbird with salads before the pizza!!!
Look for broad, floral scents of yellow flowers with a hint of citrus and tropical fruit. In the mouth, it has a broad, complex, fruity and enduring taste with a refreshing finish. Orvieto is an elegant white wine. Perfect as aperitif, superlative with baked or fried fish, excellent with shellfish. Ideal also with grilled white meat and medium-aged cheese.
