The 'White Sheep' of the family:) This is from Castilla-La Mancha, land of Manchego cheese, the famed sheep’s milk queso which pairs gloriously with this ancient white variety : Dry Muscat (Moscatel Seco). Look for an intense bouquet of ripe yellow stone fruits and lychee, floral notes of white roses and freesia, a delicate spicy hint of nutmeg and saffron, and wonderful stony minerality. The palate is soft and dense, with beautiful freshness and a long, clean finish. What a white wine! So thirst quenching, too.
Dry Muscat is one of the oldest grape varieties in the world. It is the quintessential Mediterranean white grape with origins dating back to the Phoenicians, early Greeks and Romans. Greeks associated this grape with Dionysus, the God of Wine.
The Castilla-La Mancha region is located in central Spain to the south and east of Madrid. The setting of 17th-century novel "Don Quixote" by Miguel de Cervantes, Castilla-La Mancha encompasses plains dotted with vineyards, castles and windmills, plus mountain ranges. Towering over the regional capital Toledo is the Alcázar de Toledo, a former fortress housing a military museum. Paintings by Renaissance artist El Greco grace the Toledo Cathedral.
Owned by the Cantarero family for 30+ years and located in the D.O. Uclés, a small new appellation in Castilla-La Mancha, Bodegas Fontana crafts this 'Oveja Blanca' to show how special their region really is. In fact, they strive to set their wines apart from La Mancha focusing their location in the northernmost area of Castilla La Mancha at high altitudes in cool microclimates.
In addition to making flavorsome, delicious wines, the Cantarero Morales family is committed to growing their grapes organically and producing their wine in an ecologically sound way. With 500 hectacres in Uclés, Bodegas Fontana is one of the flagship wineries in this newly designated region.

Fermented in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts, this is so aromatic, fresh and dry with deep, caressing notes of minerals, lychee, pomelo, and even a hint of fennel. Excellent fruit intensity and density in the mid-palate leads to fresh, clean, mineral zip on the finish. This is YUMMY! Pair with soft cheese, spicy food and warm days.
