'Owned by the Huneeus family of Quintessa and Flowers fame, Faust debuted in the 2002 vintage. Estate director Jen Beloz and winemaker David Jelinek have been working together here since 2011. This 2021 bottling is sourced primarily from the estate’s Coombsville vineyard, located in the southeastern corner of Napa Valley. From a cool, late-ripening spot, Coombsville fruit is often blended with riper, more forward, up-valley fruit in order to add spine and definition to Napa Cabernets, and this is a prime example. Faust’s Coombsville site, certified organic in ’21, accounts for about half of the blend, along with fruit from Yountville, Oakville, Rutherford and other AVAs. In a category known for triple-digit prices, this is an emphatic answer to the Napa Cabernet value search.' Wine Spectator reports
Violets and toasted baking spice open on the nose of our 2022 Faust Napa Valley, with savory layers of slate and cedar joining in the background. Concentrated, perfectly ripe black cherry is spiced with the wine's signature star anise and framed by fine, chalky tannins that unfold into richness on the palate. Mouthwatering freshness sustains the dance of fruit and minerality through a lingering finish.

A bold, ripe and powerful red that’s also quite broad and smooth in texture. Aromas of rose petals, raspberries and red cherries, with deeper black cherries and blueberries on the mid-palate and finish. Tobacco leaves and wild sage, too. Full-bodied. Drink now or hold.

Faust's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon features attractive aromas of dried herbs, pencil shavings, black cherries and cassis. It's medium to full-bodied and rather easy-drinking, not overly concentrated or rich but with enough texture to make it a steakhouse staple.

Spiced (mostly red) fruits, flowers, and baking spice notes define the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon, a medium-bodied, very soft, supple, and front end-loaded effort with a nicely balanced, charming mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a good finish. Based on 86% Cabernet Sauvignon complemented with Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc, it was aged 20 months in French oak, 25% new. It's upfront and ready to go. Drink 2025-2030.

A friendly style, with a mix of up-front blueberry, acai and boysenberry compote notes that show just enough structural support, while anise and violet flicker through. Drink now through 2028. 50,000 cases made.
