As a Premier Grand Cru Classé, Château Figeac embodies the excellence of Saint-Emilion wines throughout the world, and the estate has belonged to the Manoncourt family since 1892. The vineyard has an exceptional location, to the west of the Saint-Emilion appellation, on the fringe of the Pomerol appellation. The estate's vineyard covers 40 hectares of vines that are planted on three different gravelly hills. Respect for biodiversity and the flora and fauna are at the heart of the estate's concerns. The grape varieties are Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

The grapes are harvested by hand with the greatest care and are hand sorted in order to keep only the highest quality grapes. A long vatting period without extracting the astringent tannins. Vinification in wooden and stainless steel tanks with punching of the cap adapted to each plot. Maceration with an immersed cap, for the batches vinified in wooden tanks, favors a natural infusion and softens the tannins. The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (100% new oak)

This second label of Figeac is lighter and less full-bodied than its senior but certainly rich and full of flavor, with beautiful length on the palate, a highly refined texture and a great capacity to seduce at a younger age. Petit-Figeac offers an ideal introduction to the spirit of the estate.

The 2016 Petit-Figeac is a blend of 41% Cabernet Franc, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 23% Merlot that spent 12-15 months in 30% new French oak. It has a real Figeac bouquet of blackcurrants, truffle, flowers, and forest floor. Silky and medium to full-bodied, this brilliant second wine should be snatched up by readers.

The 2016 Petit-Figeac is a gorgeous, silky second wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Sweet floral notes add freshness and lift to this expensive Saint-Emilion. In 2016, Petit-Figeac has a bit more Franc than usual which also contributes to the wine's perfumed personality. This is impeccably done.

A sleek, fresh style, with a breeze of red currant and bitter cherry fruit that pulls light floral, mineral and sanguine notes along with it. A twinge of iron at the end gives this a slightly austere feel, which should loosen with brief cellaring. Best from 2021 through 2030. 3,333 cases made.

The 2016 Petit-Figeac is a blend of 41% Cabernet Franc, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon and 23% Merlot. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it opens with bold scents of warm black plums, black cherries and mulberries with touches of baking spices, potpourri, unsmoked cigars and dusty soil. Medium-bodied, it is very bright, elegant and minerally in the mouth, with plenty of vibrancy and freshness on the finish.
