Marchesi di Barolo Barolo Del Comune Di Barolo 2016
The grapes used to make this Barolo grow exclusively in the Marchesi di Barolo's 'Cru Storici' vineyards, situated in the municipality of Barolo, on hills with a good slope composed of clay and limestone soils, alternated with firm layers of gray sandstone and covered by quartz sands and very fine silt. Nebbiolo is the eclectic variety par excellence of Piedmont: from firm clay and limestone soils, it extracts plenty of nutrient minerals and trace elements that enrich its structure; from loose soils rich in sands and silt, it takes fragrant and spicy scents. Marchesi di Barolo obtains a harmonious blend that sums up the characteristics of the vintage, determined both by climate and by the specific mix of microclimate and soil type of each vineyard.
Garnet-red in color with ruby reflections. An intense aroma with clean scents of roses, vanilla, roasted hazelnuts, licorice and spices. Full, elegant and full-bodied flavors with recurring hints of the olfactory sensations. Classic touch of tar and oaky notes in perfect equilibrium on the finish.
It is so wonderful to find a perfectly aged 2016 Barolo to drink now through 2036. We tasted and loved this paired with an array of Italian dishes at Catbird in Asbury Park, NJ.
