Born in Portugal, Fria Frio believes that good wine doesn’t need to be complicated. It should simply be delicious. In Fria Frio, two women have created a good wine that doesn’t take itself too seriously. It embodies Portugal’s joyful, easy-going lifestyle in every glass. The grapes are grown in the Vinho Verde, in an ideal climate near the sea, resulting in a fresh, thirst-quenching wine that is naturally lower in alcohol.
This means you can have a good time, indulge, and still feel your best!
Say no to stuffy, no to old school. Say yes to fun!!
The Fria Frio journey began along the river from the city of Porto, over green rolling hills into lush, vineyard-covered landscapes humming with insects and birds. Wine is a part of daily life here; many families have small plots of land with grapes filling every available space, growing beside vegetables and fruit trees, hung on pergolas and even draped over telephone poles! This is a place of warmth where no one is a stranger, just someone you haven’t met yet. Close friends Jocelyn & Lisa set out to bottle this sense of community, integrity, pride and most of all, love.
Their search for the best winemaker led them to Joana Santiago. A year long process culminating in a blind tasting of 50 wines gave them her as a clear winner: Joana is a third-generation winemaker. Jocelyn & Lisa not only fell for her wines, but for her beautiful, dynamic and joyful character. She is a force and one of the best winemakers in Portugal -or anywhere.
This Vinho Verde D.O.C. is light and fresh with notes of green apple, pear, citrus and floral blossom. Made from sustainably grown grapes handpicked at the perfect moment to be fresh, fruity, zippy and naturally lower in alcohol and calories. The light effervescence makes it especially refreshing.
Loureiro, Trajadura and Arinto are indigenous grapes sourced from the best plots in the southern sub-region of Sousa, exuding the uniqueness of the terroir and abundant Atlantic influence. Fria Frio's grapes are handpicked early in the morning, in 20kg boxes, and received at the winery within 10 minutes where they begin their journey from de-stemming and pressing to fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The well-tended vinification process under this winemaking team is a labor of love.
Delicious with or without food. Pair with chips & dips, olives & cheeses, summer salads, soups, seafood, chicken, spicy dishes - anything really.
