Produced by François Labet, owner of Château de La Tour in Clos de Vougeot and Domaine Pierre Labet, this vibrant, versatile Mediterranean "Burgundy" has great personality and incredible value. François Labet owns a summer home in Corsica and over the years he fell in love with the rocky, high-altitude terroir. The vineyard is situated 20 Miles Northwest of Porto Vecchio on the East Coast in the Southern region of Corsica, the French Island in the Mediterranean Sea. It is located on the geological fault line separating Southern Corsica and Upper Corsica, each composed of soil schist and granite, this vineyard of 35 Acres is composed of metamorphic rocks foothills. It enjoys exceptional sunshine and a climate tempered by the proximity of these and the mountain barrier (of 1,800 Feet of altitude). This low alcohol (12.5 % alcohol) warm weather sipper is a must buy for the porch or beach side.
François Labet fully destems the fruit for this wine and then ages it two-thirds in tank and one-third in French oak before bottling. This is already open for business with spice, blue and red fruits, earthy and rocky notes. On top of the ripe core of fruit there’s some Mediterranean garrigue, a hint of anise and a kiss of French oak spice. The bright, clean finish reflects the wine’s rocky, high-country terroir with juicy tannins and a snap of tangy acidity.
