Originally operating as Worsham Distilling Company, Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company began in Henderson, Kentucky in the early 1880s. In 1889, Peerless Whiskey production began to flourish under the leadership of Henry Kraver. Now, five generations have been connected to Peerless. The family namesake was revived by Kraver’s great-grandson, Corky Taylor and his son, Carson Taylor. The distillery is now a state-of-the-art facility with cutting-edge technology, making it one of the most automated distilleries. All under one roof, select Kentucky Peerless grains are milled, cooked, fermented, double-distilled, barreled and bottled as bourbon and rye whiskey.
The Double Oak Bourbon is twice-aged in two distinct barrels and, as the story goes, was inspired by an accident necessitating that Kentucky Peerless transfer the bourbon in a leaky barrel to another barrel in order to salvage it. Lucky for us! Other distilleries like Woodford Reserve and Old Forester have similar double-barreled whiskies.
This bourbon gallops out of the gate with a wonderful bouquet of aromas that hit the nose with gusto: orange zest, lively sweet oak, delicate cedar, toasted vanilla and warm spice. From initial taste to its lengthy and vigorous finish, Peerless Double Oak demonstrates a lustrous viscosity and mighty heft that fills the mouth with a swirl of tobacco leaf, nutty chocolate, cinnamon, perfumed hay, citrus and a lasting woodsy punch.
Non-chill filtered. No water added. Barrel proof. Strictly sweet mash.
