To explore the Caiarossa estate, you have to start by opening your eyes wide to take in the vastness, colors and landscapes, then close them to let the natural energies of the area and the charm of its wines wash over you. Because first and foremost, Caiarossa is a breathtaking vineyard. Dizzying, taming adversity, boasting such diversity that it takes no fewer than ten grape varieties to truly showcase the incredible range of soils and terroirs across the vineyard’s 67 plots. This demanding terroir is cultivated in harmony with nature to achieve a perfect expression of this part of Tuscany. Dotted with breathtaking panoramic views of the valley and the sea, this vineyard offers an adventure, a stimulating stroll.
Caiarossa has an omnipresent energy. It is the energy of nature: of the land, the wind, the soils, which seek no more than to express themselves, free and unimpeded. A positive impetus that offered inspiration right from the outset, in the clear choice to use biodynamics as not just a method but also a philosophy, then in the construction of the vertical winery with natural cooling, not forgetting the ‘feng shui’ precepts that guided the buildings’ orientation. And all of this is expressed in and shines through the character of every single Caiarossa wine.
Created from nothing, drawing on twenty years of work to reveal the complexity of a terroir as expressive as it is capricious, Caiarossa is a young estate that has patiently come into being. Its wine, beautifully tuned and wonderfully precise, expresses the full personality of this truly unique estate. Offering intensity, color, simplicity, even magic… Caiarossa impresses with its natural strength, its clarity, and its aura, far removed from artificial luxuries. This Riparbella Tuscan is the perfect expression of the Costa Toscana.
This is Caiarossa's top wine, made from their oldest vines, creating a wine of depth, passion and complex character with a beguiling Italian elegance. The harvest is always done by hand, and once the malolactic fermentation is completed, the wine selected for Caiarossa is blended. Then it ages approximately 14 months in french oak barriques.
All the different plots and varieties are vinified separately in concrete tanks and wooden tanks, with slow fermentations and soft extractions. The blend varies, but can be about 25% Cabernet Franc, 25% Syrah, 15% each Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese, then 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Grenache.

The Caiarossa 2019 Caiarossa is a complex blend featuring Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Sangiovese, Syrah and Alicante from vineyard sites across this beautiful property in the high hills off the Tuscan coast. This organic and biodynamic wine is full and generous to the palate, yet it never feels heavy or too extracted. The wine is balanced and fresh with thick layers of dark fruit, crushed stone, tobacco and exotic spice.

This red is smooth, yet with no shortage of structure, setting up the flavors of plum, blackberry, black pepper and toasty oak. Well-balanced, with a persistent aftertaste of fruit and spices. Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Sangiovese and Grenache. Better than previously reviewed. Best from 2025 through 2036. 4,741 cases made, 3,000 cases imported.
