Grounded Wine Company Cabernet Sauvignon by Josh Phelps 2019

Grounded in heritage, grounded in soil, grounded in simplicity - Grounded Wine Company creates wines that are intriguing, clean, balanced, and evoke a sense of place. Winemaker and Napa native Josh Phelps' roots run deep, raised in a winemaking family, he was exposed to the industry from a young age. He continued to build his knowledge of the business through college, selling wine, working harvests, and creating wine for friends with his father, Chris Phelps. With GWCo., Josh hopes to build on this legacy and make his own splash in the wine world while exposing wine drinkers of his own generation to his hometown in wine country. Working with trusted farmers and childhood friends, his company reflects his deep understanding of wine, one that can only be developed growing up around the vines. 

A grassroots, all-American, wine label, the wines from Grounded feature grapes from trusted, sustainable vineyards in California and Washington and showcase what it means to be a winemaker today. The 2019 Cabernet is garnet in color, with a youthful violet hue. It opens on the nose with black cherry and blackcurrant aromas. The wine is immediately warm and inviting on the palate, with ripe, briary blackberry and vanilla flavors. Notes of mocha and sweet oak complement the refined tannins of this generous, full-throttled Cabernet throughout its long finish. Made of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24.5% Merlot, 0.5% Cabernet Franc.
