The dynamic Luc Bourgogne (his real name!) runs this tiny 5 hectare domaine based in Pommard, where he is making silky high-altitude wines from plots in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, just above the village. He is the fourth generation of the Bourgogne family to make wines here, having taken over full-time in 2012. The family does everything the old fashioned way – almost all the work is done exclusively by hand, translating to beautifully elegant, seamless, and balanced Pinot Noir. The vines for this Bourgogne are just above Pommard at 350m altitude with southeast exposure. The domaine uses organic methods and the age of the vines average 50+ year. The wine is aged in barrique, with 10% new oak. Fleshy and black fruited, this Bourgogne rouge is no wall flower! It has body, depth and character.
