From one of our absolute favorite domaines in Burgundy, the wines at Comte Armand are made from organic/biodynamic vines, 100% de-stemmed with whole-grape fermentation, 20-30% new oak; the reds are unfined, unfiltered and the whites are fined and lightly filtered. This is from Volnay, an appellation Comte Armand is known for, in addition to its most illustrious Pommard wines. Winemaker Paul Zinetti is very talented and has respected the deeply rooted, complex vines at this estate.

The 2021 Volnay Village exhibits more red fruit than the preceding Auxey-Duresses, infused with red brick and subtle oyster shell scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, slightly powdery in texture. Spicy, white pepper and bay leaf notes emerge towards the finish. Very suave. 90-92

Bursting with aromas of raspberries, cherries, spices and rose petals, the 2018 Volnay Village is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and energetic, with powdery tannins and a bright core of fruit. This is an elegant, expressive wine that's shaping up beautifully. 89-91
