A Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé, Château Franc Mayne is located 1 km from the village of Saint-Émilion, which can be reached by the paths through the vineyards. Set back from the road under the shelter of two majestic cedars, it offers a panoramic view over seven hectares of vines that are tended with total respect for the environment. Château Franc Mayne also benefits from an exceptional diversity of terroirs. Given fresh impetus by the new owner and new director, the château’s team produces a wine that expresses this diversity and reveals its character.
The Savare family took over the reins at Château Franc Mayne in 2018. Having already held investments in Bordeaux’s vineyards for more than 20 years, they have found the same commitment, values and expertise that are crucial in this industry. This triptych enabled the family company to become a world leader in fiduciary printing. Undertaking the same quest for excellence, the family has laid the foundations for a long-term commitment to this Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé. Personally involved, the new owners bring fresh drive and energy which has its origins in a two-fold motivation: to create a wine with a strong personality that reflects the richness of the terroir, and to maintain the property as a unique setting where one can experience the essence of the world of wine.
The terroir of the estate includes a limestone plateau with hillsides of clay and sandy clay. The average age of vines is 20 years, and the vineyard is planted to 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, which is common in Saint-Émilion to have mostly Merlot with some Cabernet Franc.

The 2020 Franc Mayne is dense, resonant and beautifully explosive in the glass. Sumptuous dark red/purplish fruit, rose petals, mint and lavender all saturate the palate. This heady Saint-Émilion really delivers the goods. There's plenty of energy and tension to balance the more forward nature of the Merlot. Superb.

The 2020 Franc-Mayne has turned out beautifully, wafting from the glass with aromas of dark berries, spices and licorice, followed by a medium to full-bodied, layered and seamless palate of real class and purity. Vibrant and polished, with vibrant fruit, powdery tannins and a long, perfumed finish, it's further evidence that this is an estate on the rise.

A pretty, floral, exotic 2020, the 2020 Château Franc Mayne has ample red and blue fruits as well as flowery incense, orange blossom, and sandalwood notes in a medium to full-bodied, silky, elegant, already irresistible package. While it's not massive, it has terrific concentration and intensity, supple tannins, and a great finish. It's going to evolve gracefully for 15 years or more.

This has a pretty mix of violet and cassis laced into a darker plum core, while lively anise and black tea details add to the finish. Nice streamlined finish. Drink now through 2035. 1,600 cases made, 900 cases imported.
