Tinto Pesquera is a pioneer in the production of the Tempranillo grape in Spain. The wine was given this name in honor of Pesquera de Duero, the town where the winery is located and where founders Alejandro Fernández and Esperanza Rivera were born. Tinto Pesquera has become the gold standard for wines from this region under this family's guidance. The history of Familia Fernández Rivera began with the ingenuity of Alejandro Fernández and Esperanza Rivera, as well as the hard work and unity of a family. Together they created—according to Robert Parker—one of the best wines in the world. The granddaughters of Esperanza and Alejandro took over the reins of this winemaking group. The third generation of Familia Fernández Rivera is now at the helm of a company that adapts to the times and continues to expand.
Selected from Pesquera's estate vineyards located in Roa and La Horra at 800 meters altitude, with heterogeneous soils, mostly clay-loam with some limestone. The wine was aged 14 months in American oak barrels, then 6 months in bottle before being released onto the market. Look for a clean and bright appearance, a beautiful and elegant garnet color. This Crianza presents lovely fresh notes on the nose with hints of red fruit such as raspberries, and balsamic aromas that give rise to a complex and serious wine. Pair with grilled meat, roasts of suckling lamb, suckling pig and rich products of the classic Spanish gastronomy such as acorn-fed Iberian ham or Serrano ham and Manchego cheese with luscious fig jam and marcona almonds.
