MAAL Biutiful Malbec 2024
Alfredo Merlo founded Maal in 2002 with the vision of producing Malbec that was reflective of both site and style. The 'Biutiful' is an expression of pure fruit aged without any oak. It is fresh and vibrant, bright and beautiful. Made from a single vineyard on the steep hillsides of the Estate, this is a delicious Malbec from Argentina in a clean, modern style that stands out from the crowd. Being unoaked allows the fruit to speak for itself and provide a true expression of the different terroir's of Argentina. Intense dark fruit flavors dominate and there are spice, earthy and savory notes adding depth and complexity. A very well balanced and approachable wine, probably at its best with food, red meat dishes and summer barbeques in particular.
The name of the winery - MAAL - stands for, Malbec-As-Alfredo-Likes. Produced by Alfredo Merlo, who trained at Harlan Estate in Napa before starting MAAL. He is a young winemaker from Mendoza and his vision is to produce unique, elegant and intense Malbec wines. The grapes are sourced from Altamira, San Carlos and Mendoza. The vines are situated on stony and sandy soils.
