This globally renowned white wine is from the commune of Chassagne-Montrachet in Burgundy, in the south of the Côte de Beaune, not too far from the city of Beaune. It is one of the famous villages of the « Côte des Blancs » producing great white wines (the others are Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet).
The specific vineyard here of Morgeot is on a gradual slope. Some old buildings, partially ruined, are found at mid-slope - the Abbey of Morgeot. It had two owners: men of prayer and men of the sword: monks from the abbey and the Laguiche family. During the French Revolution, the abbey was ruined but the estate of the Laguiche family was spared and remains to this day.
The vineyards' prized soils are composed of marl and limestone. 2022 offered a good maturity with particularly aromatic white wines. Citrus and ripe fruit mingle with delicate floral fragrances, very often accompanied by slightly spicy pastry notes. The palate, tender and fleshy, is based on a strong texture. Endowed with a pleasant roundness and a rich aftertaste, the wines of this vintage are well-balanced and show an excellent aging potential.
This is a wonderful occasion to savor a great wine. Admirable light golden color. Intense and elegant aromas come to the fore: hawthorn, apricot notes, evolving towards hints of blond tobacco. As the wine ages, there are nuances of dried fruit and rare spices. A silky texture and a subtle touch of tannin give a true personality to the wine. Remarkable aftertaste. A great white Burgundy!

The freshness of perfectly ripe citrus in this wine allows one to appreciate concentration that remains modest in the glass. The palate is robust and exudes squeezed Meyer lemon. Salty and highly concentrated, it finishes with almond brioche. While balanced, the wine whispers with potent energy and attitude. Enjoy after 2026.

Aromas of honeyed orchard fruits, buttery pastry, peaches, toasted nuts and spices introduce the 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Marquis de Laguiche, a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny wine that's rich, glossy and unctuous, with all the fat and texture typical of this bottling.

The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot ler Cru (Marquis de Laguiche), picked September 2 to 5, has a delineated bouquet with apple blossom, peach skin and light honeysuckle aromas that bloom in the glass. The palate is well-balanced with good substance and a better acidic spine than the preceding Meursault Genevrieres. There is commendable weight and depth on the finish. Drink over the next 12 to 15 years. 91-93
