The Marietta Family Series consists of three carefully crafted wines: Román Zinfandel, Christo Rhône Blend and Armé Cabernet Sauvignon. The Román Zin is a salute to the winery's Cellar Master, Román Cisneros, who built his legacy from the ground up through more physical work than anyone could ever match, and ultimate dedication to his family as well as the Bilbro family who own Marietta. Starting at the age of 16, Román Cisneros' first job was working for Christo in the vineyards and cellar. Christo was Marietta’s founder and first winemaker. Through decades of hard, manual work, Román's cultivation of skills and attention to detail ultimately earned him the deserved title of Cellar Master. He embodies the heart of the Marietta Cellars ethos, where hard work is the backbone to everything they do at this iconic American estate. His commitment to improving his own personal family's life, by prioritizing graduation from high school for his siblings, and college for his brother-in-law, are examples of his devotion to family. Made in Román's favorite style, this Zinfandel is ripe and nuanced, with significant structure, and sourced from estate vineyards in Alexander Valley, McDowell Valley, and the Yorkville Highlands.
Made of 92% Zinfandel, 4% Petite Sirah and 4% Barbera from hand selected grapes from 100% Estate vineyards in Alexander Valley, the Yorkville Highlands, and McDowell Valley. Aged for 12 months in neutral barrels. 14.6% ABV. 1,500 cases produced. Drink 2020-2030.
Marietta Cellars is a second-generation winery that continues to transform hard work, a blessed climate, special pieces of land, and belief into beautiful liquid expressions of family and place. For decades Marietta has produced wine by purchasing high quality fruit from local friends and farmers. Some of these meaningful relationships led to the acquisition of some of those same vineyards that they had been working with for years. In the case of Geyserville, owner Scot Bilbro's father worked the land and gained the trust of Viola Angeli before she offered he purchase it. The McDowell Vineyard relationship would never have happened if not for a freshly harvested abalone. The Bilbro family has always relied on friendships, community and personal connections. The results are in every bottle of Marietta wine.

The 2019 Román Zinfandel (blended with 4% Barbera and 2% Petite Sirah) has a medium ruby-purple color and gregarious scents of candied peach, wild berry preserves, orange peel and tar. The palate is deeply fruited but light on its feet with bright freshness and loads of perfume on the long finish. Drink 2021-2027
