Mercer Dead Canyon Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
Look for aromas of ripe red fruit, black berry pie, dried cranberries with hints of brown sugar and warm baking spices. Polished tannins lend structure while maintaining elegance and ending in a long lingering finish. The fruit for this wine is grown at Estate Vineyards in the Horse Heaven Hils. The fruit is exposed to dappled sunlight, allowing for uniform ripening and flavor development. Well balanced crop levels create wines with great depth and concentration. The grapes were sorted in the vineyard with the selective harvest tool on Pellenc harvesters. The fruit was not crushed in order to preserve as much whole-berry as possible. At the winery, individual lots were fermented in stainless steel tanks. Twice daily pump overs allowed gentle extraction of color & tannins. 16 month barrel aging in 25% New American Oak.

Wine AdvocateA juicy display of blackberry reduction, dark cherry and plum with a streak of baking spices and vanilla all merge with aromas of chocolate ganache, which fill the glass of the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Dead Canyon Ranch. Medium to full-bodied, flavors of juicy plum, cocoa nibs and black raspberry fill the palate with a balanced frame, before ending with a lingering, dark-berried and juicy finish. It's a delightful wine at a keen price. Give it a try.
