Deep Down Wines Sauvignon Blanc 2023

The second vintage of this new label, co-founded by Clive Dougall, formerly of Seresin, this mellow Sauvignon builds on its promising initial effort. Sourced from organic vineyards, about 1/3 of the wine was fermented in used puncheons and this provides a sense of roundness and relaxation to what can sometimes be an uptight variety. You can expect a fine floral scent, reminiscent of violets and honeysuckle allied with apple skin. The finish is more refined compared with the debut release, offering precision and direction on the medium-length, chalky finish.

Citrus, apple and wild fennel flavors are light and fresh, with mouthwatering acidity and increasing notes of lemon, including a touch of citrus pith on the firming finish. Drink now. 4,660 cases made, 1,500 cases imported.
