Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc 2019
2019 marks the 25th anniversary of Whitehaven, a Marlborough winery founded by the White family. Founder Sue White professes, 'the power of our product is in its purity – its Marlborough wine to the last grape. Our customers know that every vintage they will be getting a consistently high standard because we value our reputation as a premium label.'
The 2019 has a pale lemon color with a green hue and bright clarity. Lifted passionfruit, grapefruit, gooseberry, and peach fruit flavors, with complexing hints of jalapeno, nettle, boxwood and blackcurrant leaf follow. A full flavored, medium bodied wine, with regionally typical blackcurrant and gooseberry flavors that linger on the dry, clean finish. This wine is a perfect accompaniment to summer salads, poultry and shellfish, such as Marlborough's famous green-shell mussels. Also try it with lobster and white fish.

Wine AdvocateWhitehaven's 2019 Sauvignon Blanc is more restrained than I remember previous vintages being, with the focus on a core of generous grapefruit aromas and flavors. Sure, there are hints of green herbs and passion fruit, but they're contained, composed, and the overall presentation is-dare I say it-medium-bodied and elegant.
