Il Poggio di Gavi Barbera 'Sbircio' Monleale Colli Tortonesi

This is a glorious old vine Barbera from the rocky hills of Monleale in Colli Tortonesi in northern Piedmont at a 300 meter elevation. This unique composition of the soils and higher elevation creates an elegant and unique expression of the humble Piedmont red varietal Barbera.  Rich and vibrant, bold yet refined, with ripe blackberry and savory wild herb notes, and integrated tannins balancing subtle acidity with balsamic and dark cocoa flavors lingering on the finish. Pair with hearty roasted meat dishes, earthy Fall vegetables, risotto, polenta, game, tomato sauces or cheeses and cured meats.
