Acacia Lake Vineyard Pinot Noir 2013
|Region||California, Napa Valley, Carneros|
Wine EnthusiastThere's no doubt this estate-grown wine is at first funky on the nose, a mix of forest, mint and farmhouse cheese. It develops in the glass to embrace its quirks, complementing them with vibrant acidity, ripe texture, and hints of orange, rhubarb and spicy clove.
Wine SpectatorPresents a dusty, savory mix of dried fruit, cedary oak and loamy earth notes, veering toward dried black licorice and dried herb flavors, with the dryness of the tannins being the big concern. Drink now. 502 cases made.
Wine AdvocateAcacia has been making Pinot Noir for decades. The three offerings I tasted recently include their 2013 Pinot Noir Winery Lake. Medium ruby, with notes of sweet and sour cherries and pomegranate, this is a very CÃÂôte de Beaune-like Pinot with medium body and a tart, fresh finish. Drink it over the next 5-6 years.
