Viticcio Ferraio Toscana Rosso 2015
Viticcio has been making wine since 1964 among the rolling green hills of Tuscan wine country in Greve in Chianti, between Florence and Siena. The winery’s viticultural production began with the desire to capture and embody the potential of Chianti Classico, and it wasn’t long before Viticcio wines became renowned for their true and high quality expression of the Tuscan terroir. Since then, the winery has grown to encompass 120 hectares of estate-owned land among the hills of Chianti Classico and Maremma and it now produces wines from all three of these prestigious territories.
Ferraio is a new wine from Viticcio, an IGT red wine with a refreshing style, ripe and juicy notes of dark fruits and violets, medium body, and subtle oak notes. Made from 100% handpicked grapes and aged for six months in very large oak barrels so as to maintain the freshness and purity of the fruit. Produced from young vines of 50% Sangiovese, 25% Merlot, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, it is blended for everyday life.
James SucklingLots of iron and dark fruit aromas follow through to a medium body, integrated tannins, and a fresh, clean finish. Drink now or hold.
VinousThe 2015 Ferraio is a blend of Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Powerful and concentrated, but also quite anonymous and with no real character.
