This is a long-time Murray family favorite, as one of the first wineries tasted and loved back in the 1970's by our parents. We are recommending Foppiano Petite Sirah in particular to serve for this year's Thanksgiving feast, as it will play really well with all the savory, and all the sweet flavors on the table, from roasted meats and vegetables to sweet potatoes and spiced cranberry sauce.
Founded in 1896 by Giovanni Foppiano in California's Sonoma County, Foppiano is one of America's most historic wineries, and one of Sonoma County’s oldest continually-operated, family-owned wineries. The Foppiano family has supplied northern California with wine for over a century, surviving Prohibition in the 1920s by selling home winemaking kits. They believe that through the strength of family and commitment to quality, their long standing traditions will thrive. Today the winery is owned and managed by the fifth generation of the Foppiano family.
Foppiano is also known for their commitment to growing and crafting high class Petite Sirah. Aged 22 months in 50% new 50% neutral oak, look for blackberry, cinnamon, cocoa powder and sage in the nose followed by a flavors of dark espresso, raspberry jam, dark chocolate, blueberries and oak spice. Rich yet balanced, only 4212 cases made. This is a small batch, classic California red.
