Ambrositsch Ein Liter Wien White Blend 2018 1L
Known today for her organic/biodynamic/low sulfite Austrian white wines, Jutta Ambrositsch was originally a graphic designer at an advertising agency in Vienna, but after a number of years she could no longer stand the daily grind of being stuck behind a computer. Not too many young, up-and-comers were flocking to Vienna to make wine at the time, so the old-guard welcomed her with open arms. Her mentor, Fritz Wieninger, even donated a vineyard to her on the prestigious hill of Nussberg. Since her first vintage in 2002, Jutta has acquired exceptional plots of Vienna’s oldest, most diverse vineyards. She farms biodynamically and embraces a low-sulfur, minimalist regimen.
This is made from a blend of juice from all of Jutta's white wine holdings covering the entire four hectares. Because this includes everything from the young five-year old vines of Kosmopolit to the old-vine Gruner planted in 1960, it's considerably more serious than most wine bottled in the liter format. 2018 was a warm year and there is a lot of floral and lush fruit on the palate, along with a fair amount of structure. Clean, crisp and dry, this is the perfect aperitif, or for serving with fresh seafood, especially oysters on the half shell and shrimp cocktail with lemon.
