Leviathan was founded in 2004 by winemaker Andy Erickson, former winemaker of Screaming Eagle, Harlan and Staglin wineries. The goal was simple: to create one, unique red wine, drawn from some of the best vineyards in Northern California. The resulting bottling, was born of a passion for blending great red wine grapes including Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Petit Sirah, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, to create a full bodied wine with a character all of its own.

The blend for Leviathan is created afresh each vintage, sourced from some of the most coveted vineyards in California. The 2021 Leviathan displays powerful aromas of plum, black cherry, cola, and cocoa. Savory spices, white pepper, marjoram, and cardamon derived from rocky Northern California hillsides expand across the palate. The wine boasts bright and persistent acidity with intense, fine-grained tannins .

The 2021 is made of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 13% Petite Sirah, 7% Syrah, 5% Petit Verdot, 4% Cabernet Franc.

Surprisingly, the 2022 Leviathan Red Wine may outshine the 2021 vintage. A blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petite Sirah, 6% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 3% Syrah and 2% Petit Verdot, it's loaded with black cherries and cassis. Still not overly complex, it's a big, full-bodied and crowd-pleasing red wine that proves you don't need to have residual sugar or use Mega Purple to fill this niche. Velvety textured, fruit forward and long on the finish, it's a fun, easy-drinking wine at a regular-person price.

The 2022 Red Wine comes from a mix of Napa, Sonoma, Lake County, and is 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petite Sirah, 6% Merlot, 3% Syrah, 3% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot. Red and black fruits, leafy herbs, cedarwood, and truffly earth notes all emerge on the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a pure, layered, elegant mouthfeel, solid balance, and outstanding length.

The 2022 Leviathan is soft, fruity and very easy to like. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit and mint open in the glass. The 2022 is a bit lighter than most recent years, a reflection of the growing season, but that just adds to its appeal and drinkability. Floral and spice notes emerge on the finish. This is very strong for the year.

Delivers a mouthful of plump, up-front fruit in the form of dark plum and blackberry, along with a hefty dose of roasted vanilla and cocoa that lingers longer on the finish as the fruit loses some steam. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2026. 24,000 cases made.
