Foxglove Zinfandel 2016
At the core of Foxglove is Bob Varner, also the winemaker at Varner Wines. Starting from their first vintage in 1991, Bob sources the wine from a variety of places, especially Edna Valley and Paso Robles. The resulting wines have Central Coast appellation pricing, yet full of complex fruit flavors. This Zin is made of 98% Zinfandel and 2% Petit Syrah, from 100% de-stemmed fruit, 6% oak, 94% Stainless Steel aging, it has brambly, ripe Zinfandel fruit and spice flavors in a fresh style. The use of stainless on the Foxglove Zin keeps the ripe fruit from being too dark. This is an excellent BBQ, pizza and pasta wine.
