Château-La-Gaffelière Clos La Gaffelière St Emilion Grand Cru 2015
'Bordeaux Month 2019' is in full swing, and we have seen such excitement surrounding this historic region's wines since it kicked off at the beginning of March. One of the most famous places in Bordeaux is SAINT ÉMILION where, at their best, the wines are rich, pure, balanced and silky. Clos La Gaffelière 2015 is a lovely example from a TOP VINTAGE at a very reasonable price. It is the second label of the highly regarded Château-La-Gaffelière, which retails a higher pricepoint. Created in 1985, 'Clos' was first exclusively offered to private clients, but since 2000, has been sold in small quantities through Bordeaux negociants. The blending is Merlot and Cabernet Franc, whose percentage differs according to the vintage. It is a 'wine for pleasure' with a 10 year potential of aging. The work in the younger plots of Clos is the equal to the actions in the parcels for the first label : pruning, de-leafing, green harvest, hand-picking, etc... In the cellar, the same technical gestures are used in vinification. Aged in French oak barrels which have been used one year before (to make sure the wine is not too, too oaky), the wine stays in these barrels for 10-12 months. Serve with both red and white meat dishes, with grilled salmon, cheeses, pâté and cured meats.

James SucklingThis is wound up nicely with brambly, fresh red and dark berries, as well as light mocha and Middle Eastern spices. The palate has punchy flavors delivered in suave, fine tannins and attractive full body. Drink or hold.
