Craggy Range Te Muna Road Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2018
Founded in 1997, Craggy Range is a family owned winery, founded by Terry and Mary Peabody. Craggy Range exclusively crafts single-vineyard, terroir-driven wines and is a benchmark ambassador for the high quality of New Zealand’s wines. Consisting of two estate properties, Te Muna Road Vineyard in Martinborough and Gimblett Gravels Vineyard in Hawkes Bay, each vineyard has a separate soil structure, distinctive climate and unique topography, which allow Craggy Range to produce a diverse portfolio of wines.
We tasted and positively loved their 2018 Sauvignon Blanc with its pure, classy, complex style. We found lychee, grapefruit, nectarine, lime blossom and tropical fruit nuances on a crisp, clean, powerful yet balanced palate. Made from 100% estate fruit, high elevation vines, limestone soils and wild yeasts in fermentation, this is a first class wine from New Zealand. Aged in a little bit of French oak, the wine does not taste oaky at all, it just gave the wine more richness and roundness.

Wine EnthusiastThis wine bursts with aromas of lime, pineapple, peach and apple, followed by the variety's characteristic green bell pepper and nettle aromas. The palate is viscous but balanced by focused acidity. Less fruity than the nose, the herbal, vegetal nuances get the chance to shine here. It is a classy, even elegant Sauvignon from the bottom of New Zealand's North Island.
Wine SpectatorPeach, pear and pineapple flavors are fresh and juicy in this white, with accents of honeysuckle and fresh ginger that linger on the smooth and refreshing finish. Drink now. 36,000 cases made.
