Saintsbury Carneros Pinot Noir 2014
Saintsbury Winery was founded by Richard Ward and David Graves in 1981. After both studying enology at UC Davis in the late 1970's, they were housemates working the Napa Valley harvest at Chappellet and Stag's Leap Cellars and they found a way to create their winemaking dream. The property where the Saintsbury winery is located was grazing land at the time of their purchase. Their first vintages were Chardonnay (this paid the bills) and twice as much Pinot Noir which was the wine they both enjoyed and were most focused and passionate about making. To this day, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay form the bulk of the production at Saintsbury with an emphasis on Carneros, both on the Napa and Sonoma sides, single vineyards, and other parts of Sonoma County including the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast.

Wine EnthusiastEarthy compost and sage provide a rustic undertone to this well-made wine, dotted in cranberry, green tea and a hint of menthol. Medium bodied, it offers velvety texture and body within a graceful structure.
