Fieuzal’s respect for its land goes back over 400 years to when it was harvested by a handful of modest wine growers. As the terroir gained reputation, it received the name ‘Fieuzal’ in 1864, after ‘Lovely Fieuzal’, the last descendent of the Fieuzal family. Fieuzal’s legendary 1893 vintage sat on the table of Pope Léon XIII in the Vatican and its red became Grand Cru Classé in 1959 - now recognized as one of the finest Grand Crus of Bordeaux. Each of the 5 families to steer Fieuzal’s course has added a touch of their personality on a heritage that is very much alive.

Smooth and concentrated, this wine is rich while keeping a great sense of freshness. It has a dark power that is restrained by the fine acidity and perfumed black fruits. Barrel sample 92-94

Slightly higher pitched than most of its peers, with up-front damson plum and violet notes followed by cherry and red licorice flavors. The finish is tight but remains long. Should unwind with the élevage. (Barrel Tasting) 89-92

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 De Fieuzal is scented of lovely ripe plums and crushed red currants with touches of forest floor and bay leaves. Medium-bodied, firm and grainy with great freshness cutting through the earthy layers, it finishes long.
