Made by Kirk P. Venge and aged for 22 months in 100% French oak, 50% new, this is a big, plush knock-out Cab from the Napa Valley. The thing that distinguishes Cabernet Sauvignon as the dominant varietal in Napa is its ability to take on distinct and diverse characteristics based on subtle variations in soil, temperature, light and moisture.
In the glass, rich aromas of blackberry, crème de cassis and chocolate covered cherries mingle with a flinty minerality and hints of anise. This wine has an abundant entry with lush red and black fruit notes, showcasing the interplay of Cabernet and Merlot in the blend. Subtle expressions of oak, espresso and caramel rise up in the mid-palate and form a beautifully structured finish of fine grain dusty tannins.

Fully ripe, with waves of raspberry, linzer torte and plum puree sailing through, inlaid with roasted apple wood, anise and black tea notes. Dense and packed, but shows a racy edge underneath due to the vibrant acidity. Not shy, and keeps it together. Best from 2021 through 2029. 987 cases made.
