Owned by the Aubert family, this hidden gem of a property boasts clay-limestone, gravel and iron soils, classic Right Bank terroir, and is located on a rocky plateau overlooking the Dordogne River. The vines have a full southern exposure, allowing for maximum sun, helping bring the fruit to full ripeness, with plantings Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The estate has very old vines, averaging 60-years of age, which are tended to by hand and harvested parcel by parcel. The grapes are sorted at the vine and again at the winery, followed by 100% destemming.
Merlot crafts a sophisticated and elegant wine with delicate yet admirable structure and refined red berry aromas. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc (this last one from 100 year-old vines, compared to the average vine age of 60 years) bring accents of ripe and supple fruit, with mineral undertones from the limestone supplying freshness. Oak-aged for eighteen months, this wine is all about elegance and balance. Easy to enjoy on its own, it also pairs well with grilled meats and vegetables.

James SucklingLots of ripe-berry and currant character with licorice and graphite. Full-bodied, round and chewy with lots of fruit. It shows beautiful intensity on the finish for this appellation. Drink in 2020.

Wine EnthusiastThis producer based in the center of the Entre-deux-Mers region has produced a stalky, black-currant-flavored wine. With dark-coffee flavors as well as the fruitiness, the wine has some aging potential. Drink this juicy wine from 2020.
