David Duband Bourgogne Rouge 2015
David Duband lives by the philosophy of 'In the pursuit of Balance and the Truth of the Burgundian Terroir .' The wines are distinctive and elegant, with aromas of flowers and spices, finesse and power, delicacy and intensity. This is what David Duband hopes for in his wines. In Chevannes, in the heart of the Hautes-Cotes de Nuits, where the winery is located, the talk is not of color nor tannins. The goal is not to intellectualize the wine but rather to obtain wines that are capable of transmitting the complexity of the different "climats” of Burgundy such as Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis or Gevrey-Chambertin.
Made from 45 year old vines, this Bourgogne Rouge is made from 60% de-classified Chambolle-Musigny. We loved its red fruit-driven style with hints of flowers, minerals and gentle sauvage. Plus this is absolutely an extraordinary value.
"David Duband is quickly becoming a force in Burgundy. His production is increasing thanks to the purchase of the Truchot estate in Morey-Saint-Denis, acquiring some of the best appellations of the Côte de Nuits many of which are Grand Crus. His infectious smile and warmth make him one of the nicest and easiest winemakers to work with. A tasting in his cellar is also a study in terroir as one can compare an amazing array of appellations." —Daniel Johnnes
