Godina hails from the ‘Land of Old Vine Garnacha’, the Campo de Borja region of Spain, where the oldest Garnacha vineyards date back to 1145. Yields are super low, and the wines are super rich and concentrated. The grapes for Godina are handpicked and fermented in small vats, then aged in French oak.

Wine AdvocateThe 2014 Godina is the first vintage of their entry-level wine, a red from Garnacha hitting the scales at 16% alcohol in a warm and dry vintage with some hail problems. This is produced mainly with grapes from vineyards in Borja and Tabuenca, fermented in open stainless-steel vats with neutral yeasts followed by malolactic and 15 month aging in French oak barrels. It has an attractive nose mixing red and black fruit with some subtle spices and a floral touch. It has a clean, modern, slightly oaky style that would attract many. The palate has jammy fruit flavors and good length, with some fine tannins, with a finish that reminds me of ripe Garnacha grapes. 6,000 bottles were filled in August 2016.
