Château de Beaucastel Cotes Du Rhone Coudoulet Rouge 2015
One of the greatest fine wine values in the Rhône Valley, Coudoulet de Beaucastel is referred to as 'baby Beaucastel' by this illustrious estate. Made from a 30 hectare vineyard located just east of the Beaucastel vineyard, Coudoulet is made from soils with many similarities to that of Beaucastel, with its Molasse seabed covered by diluvial alpine deposits. These pebbles called 'galets roulés' play a big role: they take in the heat during the day and let it if off slowly at night which gives a good start to the vines in the Spring, and hugely contribute to the complexity of good Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The Beaucastel estate dates back to the 16th century, and descendants of the Perrin family have owned it since the early 1900s. Today the Perrins are pillars of quality in the wine world, favoring an organic approach for their wines, and a steadfast commitment to the expression of terroir. The 2015 is made of 40% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 20% Syrah and 10% Cinsault.

Wine AdvocatePerennially one of the best Cotes Du Rhone on the market, the Perrins have hit the mark again with their 2015 Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet de Beaucastel. So complex, lush and rich, it can compete with many producers' Chateauneufs, this vintage reveals dark fruit, hints of cola, cinnamon and allspice and a long, slightly warm finish.
Wine SpectatorAlluring, with warm raspberry and boysenberry confiture notes gliding along, carried by a well-embedded graphite edge and backed by warm fruitcake and dark tea accents on the finish. Drink now through 2025. 8,000 cases imported.
