Marziano Abbona is a big man of very few words and utmost integrity. His wines speak eloquently for themselves by showcasing the local terroir and by pairing beautifully with Italian and Mediterranean fare. His cellars and vineyards are located in Dogliani, a prized micro-region of Piedmont, and Abbona specializes in Dolcetto and Verdicchio wines. Arneis is the king of whites in the Roero. Candid and easy to drink, it reveals a vibrant personality that comes from the sandy soils where its grapes grow. Its intense aroma and refreshing drinkability make this an exceptionally friendly and complex wine. The Tistin Arneis is made from 25 year old vines, with selected indigenous yeasts. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature follows. It ages on its lees for four months, and cold stabilization avoids the need to use clarifying agents, decanting, or filtration. Fresh, easy-drinking and rich in personality, this wine expresses intense aromas of flowers and white fruit, which it derives from its slow fermentation at a low temperature while in stainless steel for several months. Its straightforward drinkability makes it the ideal pairing for appetizers, first courses with vegetables, and fish dishes.
