The architecture plans of Château Bel Orme Tronquoy-de-Lalande were drawn by Victor Louis (1731-1800), the famous architect who drew the Grand Théâtre in Bordeaux and the Palais Royal arches in Paris. In 1936, Château Bel Orme Tronquoy-de-Lalande became the home of the Quie family. The Chateau owes its name to the Tronquoy de Lalande family, who owned it in the 19th century and contributed significantly to its fame. Paul Quie, whose father was already in the wine profession, purchased the chateau from the Delor Firm in 1936. In 1968, his son Jean-Michel took over the family estate. Today, his children, Anne-Françoise and Jean-Philippe, work at his side. The soil of the vineyards is composed of gravel and sandy gravels, encompassing 28.5 hectares planted to 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, with vines averaging 35 years.

Astonishingly deep colours. Saturated dense red-black fruit, plum, sloe, black bramble, cassis, and blueberry. Elegant layers of mint, balsamic, aniseed, and chocolate, with generous depth. Beautiful, mouth-filling tannins, good precision, and complexity, with a persistent savoury finish. Excellent value.

Aromas of grilled plum, black cherry, black olive, mocha, savory herb and meat. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, sleek tannins and fresh acidity. Succulent and flavorful.

This wine from northern Haut-Médoc is produced by the same team as classed growth Château Rauzan-Gassies in Margaux. It is richly fruity, pushing the density and alcohol but drawing back with the acidity and bright black-currant flavors. Drink this wine from 2024.
