The Balvenie is a traditional Scottish distillery located in Dufftown on Speyside. The company still grows their own barley and keeps faith with a traditional malting floor, the last of its kind in the Scottish Highlands. Their resident coppersmith maintains the stills and a team of coopers ensures each barrel is in perfect condition. The Balvenie's Malt Master David Stewart presides over every aspect of the maturation process. He crafts a range of single malts where each expression is unique, but all are rich, luxuriously smooth and underpinned by a distinctive honeyed character. Understanding his craft like few others, David uses different cask types and ages of spirit, to develop exquisite, new interpretations of The Balvenie's classic character.

The Balvenie Thirty is a rare and especially fine single malt for which Malt Master David Stewart selects only the most exceptional casks which were laid down over thirty years ago. By marrying The Balvenie slowly aged in traditional oak whisky casks, with that aged in European oak sherry casks, David creates a rich, mellow Scotch whisky with unusual depth and complexity. ‘Thirty’ is bottled at 47.3% abv to capture all of the signature characteristics of The Balvenie. The captivating nose has honey, oak and hints of candied orange peel, followed by a silky smooth palate of rich dark chocolate, hints of plum, marzipan and caramelised pear. This has great depth and complexity, and is exceptionally smooth and warming on the finish with gentle spice and lingering sweetness.

Wine EnthusiastBouquet offers hints of mead, almonds, pencil eraser, coffee grounds, pork and old leather. Palate entry is intensely resiny, smoldering warm and waxy; at midpalate, taste explosions of honey, oloroso sherry, dark caramel, hard cheese, malted milk, and Christmas pudding treat the taste buds to an extraordinary library of flavors. Ends deliciously sweet and honeyed…
