Nestled in the hills of Oregon's Eola-Amity Hills AVA, Walter Scott Wines specializes in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Walter Scott strives for elegance and purity in their wines, while working to ensure their wines convey transparency of site and character of vintage, as a great Burgundy would. Famed Burgundy importer Becky Wasserman said, “You can always judge a great Domaine by the quality of their Bourgogne bottling.” These are words that the owners of Walter Scott live by. At Walter Scott, they put the same care and attention to detail into their two Willamette Valley wines as they do their single vineyard selections. The La Combe Verte bottlings are the foundation for every choice they make in the winery, directly reflecting their reputation, philosophy, and lifestyle.

La Combe Verte translates to The Green Fault or The Green Valley. This phrase is a tribute both to the incredible Willamette Valley, and the amazing team at Patricia Green Cellars, without whose support, Walter Scott would have never been founded. Essentially, it is Patricia Green Cellar's "fault" that they were able to start this project. For the 2016 vintage, La Combe Verte is composed primarily from Eola-Amity Hills sources, with barrels of Vojtilla and Freedom Hill Vineyards added in order to thoughtfully paint a unique picture of the Willamette Valley. This Pinot Noir is 15% whole cluster, fermented with ambient yeast, and aged in barrel for 10 months with 30% new oak barrels. 1350 cases produced.

The resulting wine is a serious and beautiful example of the 2016 vintage, layered with power and structure giving this wine immediate appeal, alongside the ability to be tucked into your cellar for several years. Layers of red cherries, plums and spicy earth fill the nose. The fruit, tannins and acid all come together to make the wine our version of the complete package.
