Hans Pfeiffer Piesporter Michelsberg Riesling Kabinett 2015
We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.
Hans Pfeiffer Piesporter Michelsberg Riesling Kabinett is a lovely Riesling from the town of Piesport, and from the vineyard Michelsberg. Wines have been made in this area since the 4th-century AD and Roman wine basins were discovered in Piesport in 1985. This Kabinett is clean, refreshing, light and fruity with juicy yellow peach, apricot and mineral flavors. This will make a perfect picnic, brunch or sushi wine.
There are six categories of Riesling which indicate the ripeness of the grapes. Kabinett is considered 'off-dry' and is from the vineyard's first wave of picking. Spätlese is riper and fruitier, and Auslese is even riper still. Beyond on that you have Beerenauslese, Trockenbeerenauslese and Eiswein (or ice wine), all getting sweeter, more viscous and more expensive as they are made in very, very small quantities. We prefer Kabinett's and Spätlese's for appetizer and dinner wines, and Auslese with cheese after dinner. And the sweeties are perfect on their own in lieu of dessert or with fruit tarts and cakes.
