La Collina Dei Lecci Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2010

SKU 11082

Coming from a near perfect vintage in Montalcino that the Wine Advocate rated 98 points and describes as a 'once in a lifetime' vintage, La Collina dei Lecci 2010 Riserva is also one of the greatest values from the region. Made of 100% Sangiovese as is the law for the appellation, this Brunello di Montalcino exhibits a classic style with earth and spice tones, dried red and dark fruit on the nose, and hints of sandalwood.

James SucklingA soft and silky Brunello with plum, walnut, berry and cedar aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, juicy and ripe. Tuscan dust texture for tannins. A pretty, savory successor to the excellent regular 2010 bottling. Delicious or hold.

Wine AdvocateHere's a very savory and spicy Brunello that oozes darkness and thick barbecue smoke. The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva speaks to the power and integrity of this once-in-a-lifetime vintage from this picturesque hamlet town in southern Tuscany. Despite its masculine approach and brawn, La Collina dei Lecci delivers a balanced effort that presents the muscular side of Sangiovese. It shows some sharp edges in terms of texture and natural acidity. It will require a few more years of bottle aging before it softens up.

Wine SpectatorRound, fresh and harmonious, with the moderately firm structure supporting cherry, currant, underbrush and earth flavors. Approachable now, but better in a year. Best from 2017 through 2026. 1,000 cases made.
