Marques de Riscal Rioja Reserva 2012
|Brand||Marques de Riscal|
Wine AdvocateThe 2012 Reserva seems to follow the new blend of Tempranillo with 10% Graciano, as they have regrafted the Mazuelo they used to have into Tempranillo, and the quantity of Graciano has increased slightly (as they already have 18 hectares and they buy some grapes). The wine matured in American oak barrels for 23 months. The wine is obviously oaky with plenty of coconut and vanilla, with a touch of sawdust. 2012 was a very concentrated vintage, but the Riscal vines somehow produced high yields. The palate is polished and soft, approachable and easy to drink, ending slightly warm with some development. There are 4.1 million bottles produced, up from three million in 2010!
