The 2016 vintage of S de Suduiraut is an absolutely beautiful white Bordeaux. A blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, the 'S' captures the essence of white wine from Bordeaux with its zesty notes of citrus and pineapple, bright, refreshing texture and long, full finish. This wine’s finely integrated wood aging, fruit and floral aromas, rich, supple structure and freshness make it a wonderfully complex white wine. A true insider’s wine, the 'S' is the ideal bottle to serve to true wine aficionado's in your life as an aperitif, with shellfish appetizers and/or fresh halibut, trout and salmon in cream sauces. Elegant and sophisticated, S de Suduiraut will age in your cellar for up to 7 years from the vintage.
Located close to Chateau d'Yquem, the 200 hectare Sauternes vineyard of Chateau Suduiraut has 92 hectares under vine. The terroir is mostly gravel, sand, limestone and clay soils planted on sloping hillsides. The vineyard of Chateau Suduiraut is planted to 90% Semillon and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. Although, there is a small amount of Sauvignon Gris planted in the vineyard as well. The vines average 30 years of age and are planted to a vine density of 7,000 vines per hectare. In recent years, greater numbers of Sauternes and Barsac producers have begun making dry white wines in addition to their region's renowned sweet wines. Suduiraut is one such estate, Suduiraut makes fewer than 500 cases of S de Suduiraut per year, featured here.

The 2016 S de Suduiraut Blanc is a blend of 56% Semillon and 44% Sauvignon Blanc aged in 20% new oak for nine months. It was picked on 8 and 9 September. It has a fragrant bouquet with apple blossom and cold limestone scents, fresh and well defined. The palate is well balanced with a lively, orange zest tinged entry. There is lovely balance and freshness here with a poised, quite stony and reserved finish. There is a big difference between this and the Le Blanc Sec de Suduiraut. Rated 90-92

Plump, with a core of shortbread, white peach and clementine flavors, backed by hints of straw and macadamia nut. This has the cut for balance, but stays on the flattering side, letting the richness play out through the finish. Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Drink now through 2019.
