Domaine Palon Gigondas 2015
Over the past 100 years, the legacy of grape growing and winemaking in the Gigondas region has been passed down through four generations at Domaine Palon. Founded by Valérie and Léopold Palon, the estate is now run by their great grand-son, Sébastien Palon. His grandfather, Jean Palon, was the co-founder of the Gigondas Co-operative Wine Cellars and member of its governing board from 1956 until 1978. Thereafter his father, Jean-Pierre Palon, was President of the Gigondas Co-operative Wine Cellars from 1978 until 2001. In 2003 Sébastien Palon created his own winery in 2003 and becomes wine grower and producer ("Propriétaire Récoltant").
Situated at the foot of the jagged peaks of the "Dentelles de Montmirail" range, Domaine Palon boasts vines with an average age of 50 years, covering 15 hectares and 4 different geographic appellations: Gigondas – 7 hectares ; Vacqueyras – 5 hectares; Côtes du Rhône – 2 hectares and Vin de France (French table wine) – 1 hectare. The vineyards are farmed with sustainable methods, the grapes are hand picked and sorted by hand in the vineyard.

Wine AdvocateThe 2015 Gigondas Tradition (79% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 6% Mourvèdre and aged in concrete and foudre) offers plenty of sweet red fruits, garrigue and hints of saddle leather in a forward, yet classical and balanced style. It's a workhorse styled effort that has plenty of appeal. 89-91
