Lucien Muzard is run by brothers Claude and Hervé Muzard, the ninth generation at the estate since 1645 in the village of Santenay. Made from low yielding vines scattered throughout the village of Santenay, planted in the 1960s , with organic farming, 40% whole cluster fermentation, native yeasts and 10 months aging in oak, this is a perfectly classic Santenay from the Muzard brothers. With its fine texture, layered complexity, excellent tension, mineral core from the limestone soils and earthy notes on the there is a demure, quietude that keeps you coming back for more.

The 2018 Santenay 1er Cru La Maladière exhibits aromas of cassis, plums, smoked meats and espresso roast, followed by a medium to full-bodied, deep and fleshy palate that's succulent and open-knit, underpinned by powdery tannins. It has turned out well. Drink now through 2038.
