Querciabella produces wines with the highest standards. This Chianti Classico DOCG, made of 100% Sangiovese, is aged for at least 2 years, which is the appellation's minimum requirement for a Riserva, but the estate chooses to give the Classico extra aging to make it the best it can be. Founded in 1974, Querciabella has been farming with organic methods since 1988  and with biodynamic methods since 2000. The estate has vineyards located throughout Tuscany’s Chianti Classico and Maremma areas, : 74 hectares (183 acres) in Chianti Classico in the communes of Greve, Panzano, Radda and Gaiole – in addition to 32 hectares (79 acres) in  Maremma on Tuscany’s unspoiled Etruscan coast, Querciabella’s holdings represent one of the largest extensions of biodynamically farmed (certified organic) vineyards in Italy, contributing extraordinary biodiversity to local and surrounding ecosystems and serving as a sanctuary for thriving numbers of honeybee colonies.

VinousThe 2013 Chianti Classico Querciabella is gorgeous. Sweet, perfumed and silky in the glass, the 2013 is simply exceptional. The flavors are bright and beautifully delineated, while the mid-weight, gracious structure speaks to finesse. With air, the 2013 becomes darker and broader in the glass, yet still retains considerable freshness. This is a superb showing from Querciabella.

Wine AdvocateThe 2013 Chianti Classico Riserva Querciabella reveals a deep and layered presentation of dark fruit. It offers a quick succession of dried blackberry, cassis and rose hip. Spice, leather and moist chewing tobacco give the wine a larger sense of dimension and weight at the back. This pretty Chianti Classico Riserva closes with bright acidity and elegant endnotes of dried mint and balsam herb.

Wine SpectatorRich cherry flavors are underscored by a firm structure in this intense, powerful red. Tightfisted tannins carry the finish for now, but there is ample sweet fruit and lively acidity for the future. Best from 2018 through 2028. 200 cases imported.
