# 24 TOP 100 WINE OF YEAR 2017 WINE SPECTATOR: Back in the 1990's we had the pleasure of meeting Justin Baldwin who had developed a relationship with our dad, who was an early, enthusiastic supporter here on the East Coast of Justin wines. Founded in 1981, Justin winery was built on 160 acres in Paso Robles, with the aim of crafting wines that belong in the company of the finest in the world. The area was not as well-known as Napa or Sonoma, so Justin Baldwin himself made it his mission to educate retailers and restauranteurs around the country about his beloved vineyards. Rich in limestone, the soil of Paso Robles produces grapes with intense flavor and great structure, making it a perfect location for JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery. Justification has always been an interesting wine from this winery, and we liked that it was Inspired by classic French Right Bank Bordeaux wines. This blend of cabernet franc and merlot showcases the bold, distinctive terroir of Paso Robles with full, bright fruit, and was barrel aged for 21 months in 100% French oak (50% new).
